Before receiving a master’s degree in Indian classical dances at the Nateshwar Kala Mandir Institute, Ms. Mahajan studied extensively under guru Shri Beeru Pawar ji, who introduced her to many forms of Indian classical and folk dances.

Ms. Mahajan eventually earned Visharad under the guidance of guru Surinder Kumar ji and Beeru Pawar ji. She specializes in the Banaras and Jaipur gharana style of Kathak along with several other folk dances of India, and has been performing Indian classical and folk dances for many years.

Ms. Mahajan made her acting debut in 2010 as Sundari in Living in America. She played Daisy in the musical Where is the Culture? (2011). Her role of Meera in the musical Arranged Marriage (2013) is described on the existing site as bringing accolades from theater critics and dance connoisseurs.

Guru Beeru Pawar ji, who hails from a family specializing in Braj Ras, found his calling in the creative arts at 10 years of age. At 14 he joined the guru-shishya parampara under Maharaj Krishna Kumar. For about 22 years he studied and refined the nuances of almost all Indian dance forms.

He amassed in-depth knowledge and mastery in Kathak of the Benaras gharana. He specializes in bhav paksh — expressions — and holds that without expressions a dance is devoid of its soul.

His experience is reflected in dance ballets written, composed, and choreographed by him, including Maanav, Sainani, Yeh Kaisa Inqlaab, and Meera. He is described on the existing site as the founding father of Nateshwar Kala Mandir in New Delhi. The biography notes that he resides in New Delhi with his wife Nirmala Pawar and children Abhas and Aarti.
